Solutions to common problems

IMAP Email Settings

These settings should apply for any email address provided by LocalTel. If you host your own domain with us, please contact Technical Support to verify your server settings.

  1. Incoming Server: mail.nwi.net
  2. Outgoing Server: smtp.nwi.net

User name must be your fully qualified email address (example: bob@somewhere.com).
There are 2 advanced options you need to check:

  1. Outgoing server requires authentication
  2. Outgoing server port 587
Spam Filtering

All email addresses which use a LocalTel domain receive spam filtering services. The spam filter examines each message to check the sending mail servers reputation, and will reject or approve the message based on this and the content of the message itself. Questionable messages can be quarantined in a quarantine box dedicated for your email.

To log into the quarantine mailbox, go to http://filter.localtel.net. Log in with your email address and password to check for quarantined messages, release quarantined messages to your mailbox, whitelist or blacklist a sender, or adjust the sensitivity of the filter. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact technical support.

Logging on to the LocalTel Network

If your router has not been previously authenticated on the LocalTel Network, you may be directed to a router validation page.

You will need to provide your Login Number and Account number to log onto the LocalTel Network, and begin surfing the internet.

Your Login Number and Account Number can be located on your LocalTel Bill. The Login Number will be listed under the "Phone #'s for this location" section of your bill, without parentheses. (e.g. 509CF11615). The Account Number should be listed at the top of your bill, above the telephone number.

Once you have entered the Login Number and Account Number, hit the "Connect" button to authenticate. When your connection details are validated, you will be able to surf the internet!

If you have any difficulties, please contact LocalTel Technical Support.
